Emergency Responses Shape Frederick Area Dispatch Activity

Crashes, alarms and a shooting response were among the incidents recorded across Frederick County

Crews responded at 9:10 am to a entrapment - torso or head at 100 BLOCK N. CARROLL ST in Thurmont. The response included Rescue Squad R10, Engine E132, Tower TW6, Ambulance A307, Utility U10, Battalion Chief BC902, SAF901 and EMS Supervisor EMS902. At 9:11 am, an update noted: Frederick ECC advises responding units that a child has their leg stuck in a chair. A later update at 9:13 am noted: Frederick ECC reports caller states child’s leg is now free.

At 10:32 am, crews were called to 6000 BLOCK CULLEN DR — VICTOR CULLEN CENTER in Sabillasville for a building fire. Units assigned included FRE42, FRE193, Paramedic Engine PE102, ACRE3, FRE21, FRE241, Rescue Squad R10, FRLDR2, Tower TW6, Tanker K10, ACK3, Engine Tanker EK64, FRBR24, Advanced Life Support ALS30, Ambulance A307, FRC24, Battalion Chief BC902, Battalion Chief BC903 and SAF901. At 10:40 am, an update noted: FRC24 on the scene, checked all buildings outside the secured area, nothing evident. Unable to check inside secure area, no guard at the gate. A later update at 10:43 am noted: FRC24 made contact with facility representatives who report no incident at the facility. Frederick ECC reports caller was a passerby who reported white smoke in the area.

Responding units were Engine E121, Engine E31, Engine E311, Paramedic Engine PE23, Engine E501, Engine E72, Rescue Squad R3, Tower TW1, Tiller Truck TT4, Ambulance A129, Advanced Life Support ALS4, C1, C2-B, Battalion Chief BC903, Battalion Chief BC901 and SAF901. At 7:13 pm, an update noted: E121 on the scene, 2-story residential dwelling. Smoke showing from the front door. Requesting Rapid Intervention Dispatch (RID). Establishing command. Occupants are out, reporting a fire in the kitchen. A later update at 7:14 pm noted: BC903 on scene, assuming command.

Crews responded at 4:42 pm to a entrapment - peripheral at 5400 BLOCK URBANA PIKE — TARGET in Riverview Plaza. The response included Engine E31, Rescue Squad R3 and Ambulance A38. At 4:42 pm, an update noted: Units all loaded for a child with its fingers, stuck in a shopping cart. 

At 1:02 pm, crews were called to 3800 BLOCK GREENRIDGE DR in Monrovia for a house fire. Units assigned included Paramedic Engine PE251, Engine E152, Engine E231, Engine E331, MCPE713, MCBRE713, Engine E172, Rescue Squad R15, Truck T23, CCR1, MCK713, Tanker K23, Tanker K33, Ambulance A259, Advanced Life Support ALS23, C15-B, Battalion Chief BC901, Battalion Chief BC903 and SAF901. At 1:03 pm, an update noted: PE251 on scene, 2-story single-family residence. Nothing evident. Investigating. A later update at 1:05 pm noted: PE251 completed 360-assessment, normal conditions on all sides. Occupants are out. Establishing command.

A vehicle accident brought crews to I-270 northbound near PARK MILLS RD in Urbana at 3:07 pm. Responding units were Ambulance A239, Ambulance A319, Ambulance A249, Rescue Squad R3, Engine E231 and Paramedic Engine PE311. At 3:12 pm, an update noted: A239 on scene, 3 vehicles involved. Checking on occupants. A later update at 3:19 pm noted: E231 requesting third ambulance.

Crews responded at 4:49 pm to a motorcycle accident at 7100 BLOCK ENGLISH MUFFIN WAY— BIMBO BAKERIES. The response included Ambulance A37, Rescue Squad R2, Advanced Life Support ALS2, Engine E311 and EMS Supervisor EMS902. At 4:52 pm, an update noted: E311 on the scene, two subjects sitting in the grass. Motorcycles are upright. Checking on injuries. A later update at 4:53 pm noted: A37 evaluating one patient. 1:09 pm PE251 reports homeowner noticed an odor believed to be originating from the HVAC. PE251 reports nothing found on all floors. Slight odor on the interior. PE251 making access to attic to investigate.

1:14 pm Investigative group made contact to attic, nothing evident. BC901 holding PE251, E152, TT23 to continue investigating the air handler in the attic. Other units in service.
