Propane Odor Report Brings Meter Checks at Monocacy Boulevard Walmart
A reported propane odor in a stockroom near the freezer prompted a response to the Walmart in the 2400 block of Monocacy Boulevard at 8:38 pm. E111, E291, Q11, A248 and BC902 were assigned to the call. E291 reported normal conditions while beginning its investigation and establishing command. BC902 then assumed command, and E291 made contact with a patient.
The stockroom was checked after E291 reported negative readings on its meters at 8:47 pm. Q11’s crew was directed to use its meters to recheck the area. By 8:53 pm, E291 and Q11 had checked the area with both sets of meters and reported negative findings. A248 evaluated one patient at 9:04 pm; that patient refused transport.
The Walmart call followed pedestrian-struck responses in Frederick earlier in the day. At N. Market Street and W. Seventh Street, PE23 was assessing a patient shortly after the 12:21 pm dispatch. M28 transported a Priority 2 patient, classified as serious but stable, to Meritus Medical Center at 12:35 pm. At the Potomac Commons Apartments in the 1300 block of Taney Avenue, BC902 found a pedestrian upright and walking after a 3:58 pm report. A18 evaluated the patient, who refused transport, and the units returned to service.
Roadway calls began with a rollover report at Rohrersville Road and Main Street at 4:43 am, where R19 was listed for Washington County mutual aid. At 5:12 am, A129, A37, R3, E121 and E31 were assigned to a reported vehicle accident on I-70 eastbound at US-15/340. A separate collision was reported at 8:36 am near Liberty Road and Sebastian Boulevard in Dearbought; E111 located the vehicle collision on Route 26 westbound just east of Waterside Drive. A247 evaluated one patient and transported a Priority 3 patient, classified as non-life-threatening.
Later, E11 found three vehicles on the side of southbound US-15 at West Patrick Street after a 3:39 pm post-accident check-up dispatch, with the occupants out of the vehicles. A19 evaluated one patient there. At Old National Pike and Ridgefield Drive, E331 reported three vehicles involved in a 4:29 pm accident, while A339 evaluated one patient and requested Fire-Police for traffic control. A339 subsequently obtained a patient refusal. A further vehicle-accident dispatch at the same intersection at 5:14 pm brought A339, ALS4, R3, E331, EMS901 and BC901; E331 reported no change from the previous accident and held A339, ALS4 and E331 on the call.
In Taskers Chance, E11 reached a pickup truck that was well-involved in fire after a 5:46 am vehicle-fire dispatch at Park Ridge Drive and Heathfield Drive. The unit was in the process of extinguishing the fire at 6:01 am. Elsewhere, E231 investigated a smoke report in the 8200 block of Ball Road and identified a recreational fire before returning to service. At a commercial fire alarm in the 5000 block of Buckeystown Pike, PE311 found nothing evident from a single-story commercial strip and reported that contractors were working on the alarm system.
An electrical-hazard call in the 5600 block of Joseph Court in New Market was clarified when E152 found a broken water line inside a residence that was causing damage. E152 remained at the location while E331 and R15 returned to service. At a four-story apartment building in the 500 block of Stanton Street, E291 located burned food on a stove after an odor-of-smoke report. BC902 held E291 and Q11 while the other assigned units returned to service. The day’s later calls included a cell phone found in the roadway in the 6900 block of Burkittsville Road after an automatic crash notification, with no crash found, and a vehicle off the roadway into a ditch near Route 75 and Ed McClain Road in Monrovia, where A259 evaluated one patient.
