Two patients taken to Meritus after East Church Street crash
One patient was classified as serious but stable and the other as non-life-threatening; later, sprinklers suppressed a stove fire, and two people from a distressed boat did not require EMS

Two patients were transported to Meritus Medical Center after a crash at East Church Street and North Maxwell Avenue in Frederick Tuesday afternoon. The call was dispatched at 2:18 p.m., and E31 reached the intersection at 2:19 p.m. to find two vehicles involved, with people still inside one. At 2:20 p.m., the unit reported that one person was confined to the vehicle and established command; at 2:22 p.m., it said the patient had been removed. The initial assignment included A37, A299, ALS4, ALS2, E31, R3, BC903 and EMS902. E31 requested an additional ambulance and ALS resource at 2:26 p.m.
At 2:43 p.m., M37 transported a Priority 2 patient, classified in Frederick County as serious but stable, to Meritus Medical Center. A299 followed at 2:45 p.m. with a Priority 3 patient, classified as non-life-threatening, to the same destination. The remaining units then began clearing the scene.
Earlier that afternoon, another two-vehicle crash was reported on US-15 just south of Mountville Road. The dispatch came at 1:56 p.m., and E281 reached the scene at 2:02 p.m. to check on the occupants. Its request for an additional ambulance at 2:06 p.m. was canceled at 2:13 p.m. after a patient refusal. A209 obtained a refusal from a second patient at 2:21 p.m., and units began clearing.
Later in Frederick, a crash on US-15 northbound at West Patrick Street involved four vehicles. The call was dispatched at 4:24 p.m., and A299 arrived at 4:28 p.m. with all occupants appearing to be out of the vehicles. At 4:29 p.m., the unit reported no entrapment and three patients for evaluation. A299 had obtained two patient refusals by 4:34 p.m., while A18 was obtaining another. At 4:45 p.m., the vehicles had been moved to the right shoulder, northbound travel lanes were open, but residual delays remained. Southbound lanes were not directly affected, though traffic there had slowed.
In Ballenger Crossing, a building-fire response was dispatched to the 6500 block of Wiltshire Drive, Unit E, at 4:42 p.m. E311 arrived at 4:44 p.m. and reported normal conditions at a two-story multifamily dwelling. The building was being evacuated, and an audible alarm was active. The investigation turned to a possible stove fire at 4:46 p.m. At 4:47 p.m., E311 confirmed that the stove fire had been suppressed by sprinklers and secured the sprinkler flow. C1 assumed command at 4:48 p.m. and held E311, E11 and TT4 while the other units returned to service.

A river-rescue response at Point of Rocks Boat Ramp began at 8:57 p.m. Dispatchers told responders at 9:00 p.m. that the caller reported the boat was approximately at the midpoint of the river near the bridge. BC903 requested the full river-rescue response package at 9:04 p.m. At 9:06 p.m., BT28 was preparing to launch, while LCBT610 planned to launch from the Virginia side. The caller's phone location appeared farther east of the bridge at 9:08 p.m.; at 9:11 p.m., the caller said the boat was closer to Mason Island. BC903 established command at 9:12 p.m., requested Trooper 3, and asked BT29 to launch from Nolands Ferry Boat Ramp.
The caller's phone showed a location northwest of Nolands Island at 9:16 p.m. BT28 reported a visual on the boat at 9:17 p.m. and made contact with the distressed vessel at 9:21 p.m.; BC903 released Trooper 3 at 9:22 p.m. BT28 reported at 9:30 p.m. that it had two people from the distressed boat as it and LCBT610 proceeded to Nolands Ferry Boat Ramp. At 9:47 p.m., BT28 said the two people did not require EMS, and BC903 returned A148 and ALS20 to service. BT28 successfully exited the river at the ramp at 9:59 p.m.
