Fire crews find Myersville house fully involved on Wistman Lane

A tanker task force was requested during the early-morning response; later calls included a motorcycle crash involving a Priority 2 patient, classified as serious but stable, and three automatic alerts triggered by phones in roadways.

A 2-story, single-family residence in the 3900 block of Wistman Lane in Myersville was fully involved when E82 reached the scene early Wednesday. The house fire call went out at 12:35 a.m. as Box Alarm 8-11. BC903 requested a tanker task force while en route at 12:41 a.m.; E82 reported the condition at 12:43 a.m.

At 12:45 a.m., E82 completed a 360-degree assessment and was securing propane tanks. The initial assignment included E82, E72, E121, E31, PE23, E501, R3, TW7 and TW1, among other units. E291, TT4, A79 and EMS901 were assigned at 12:47 a.m. At 12:50 a.m., the tanker task force assignment comprised PE311, EK114, WCEK16, WCEK7 and WCK6.

A motorcycle and a work van were reported involved in a Point of Rocks collision following a 7:04 a.m. call at Route 464 and U.S. 15. E281 located the incident in the 3900 block of Point of Rocks Road at 7:06 a.m. and checked those involved. At 7:07 a.m., it reported one patient for evaluation; A148, ALS20 and E281 remained while the other units returned to service. While that response continued, A129 and E121 were sent at 7:20 a.m. to the 8200 block of Baltimore National Pike in Braddock Heights. E121 found a cell phone in the roadway at 7:21 a.m. that had triggered the automatic crash notification, and those units returned to service. At 7:31 a.m., M148 transported a Priority 2 patient, classified as serious but stable, to the hospital as the remaining Point of Rocks units cleared.

The middle of the day brought mutual-aid fire dispatches. E231 was sent at 11:35 a.m. to a reported vehicle fire on Old Hundred Road eastbound at I-270 in Hyattstown for Montgomery County. At 1:01 p.m., T23 and E152 were assigned to a reported building fire in the 100 block of W. Ridgeville Boulevard in Mt. Airy for Carroll County. Roadway calls followed in the late afternoon. E82 and A89 were assigned at 5:31 p.m. on Washington County mutual aid for a reported vehicle accident on I-70 westbound at the 38-mile marker. At 5:41 p.m., a motorcycle-accident response involving A247, ALS29, R2, E111 and EMS902 went to Sebastian Boulevard and Liberty Road. At 6:17 p.m., PE52 and R19 were sent on Washington County mutual aid to a reported vehicle accident with entrapment on Route 340 westbound at the 1-mile marker.

The automatic-notification pattern reappeared in Frederick County that evening. E201 reached Route 340 eastbound just past Mt. Zion Road at 7:40 p.m., responding to a 7:36 p.m. alert at Jefferson Technology Boulevard. Police were at the location conducting a traffic stop, and E201 reported no crash at 7:41 p.m.; A129 found the cell phone in the roadway at 7:42 p.m. The third phone-related alert was dispatched at 7:53 p.m. on I-70 westbound at Route 40A. No crash was found, and the cell phone that had triggered the notification was located in the roadway.

At 7:54 p.m., A169, E162 and C16 were sent to Route 194 and Route 550 in Woodsboro for a check after an accident, with police already on scene. E162 reported at 7:57 p.m. that two vehicles were involved on Route 194 at Liberty Street and began checking those involved. One patient refused transport at 8:13 p.m., and the units remained for traffic control.

In Tuscarora, an 8:18 p.m. vehicle-accident call sent A148 and R14 to the 6700 block of Dickerson Road. R14 arrived at 8:24 p.m. and reported that a vehicle had struck a deer, then checked those involved. A separate call went out at 8:26 p.m. on I-70 westbound at the 52-mile marker in Frederick. R3 reached that scene at 8:31 p.m. to find a single vehicle off the roadway and began checking those in the vehicle. At 8:33 p.m., R3 kept A37 and E31 at the scene while the other assigned units returned to service. At 8:37 p.m., A148 evaluated one patient from the Dickerson Road call, and that patient refused transport.
